5 Wellesley College Italian courses – this US university has developed three Italian courses – beginner, intermediate and advanced – that are available to take for free via the online learning platform EDX. The courses include plenty of interactive content including videos and quizzes to test yourself on what you’ve learned.
4 Imiwa? – are you looking for a Japanese dictionary which lets you search by character as well as by word? This app makes that possible as well as seeing a word used in context. It’s free and available on iOS.
3 Babadum – practice vocabulary with addictive games in more than 20 languages! Match words to pictures, or take the challenge of spelling out the word from the picture. This is a really attractive website that works well on tablets and smartphones as well as on a computer.
2 TV5Monde – this French TV channel has plenty of material for complete beginners all the way up to intermediate learners. You can practice vocabulary by topic or watch videos and read articles at your level on the latest news and current events.
1 Learning Swedish – developed by the Swedish Institute, this website offers a completely free, comprehensive beginner’s course in the language. It includes high-quality video and audio material, and the website is extremely easy to use. You might never have thought about learning Swedish before, but with this website you’ll be well on your way!
